WRITTEN EXAM HAS THREE PARTS: listening, vocabulary and grammar





PART ONE: LISTENING





a) Listening to the unknown text and circling multiple-choice questions.


Example: You hear: "She went to school in Chicago."


Question: Where did she go to school?


a) London b) Boston c) Chicago





b) Listening to the known, previously heard text, and answering questions in THE FULL SENTENCE FORM, not with one word and incomplete.


Example: You hear: "She went to school in Chicago."


Question: Where did she go to school?


Answer: She went to school in Chicago. CORRECT, full-sentence form.


Answer: Chicago INCORRECT. It's only a one-word answer - not acceptable, no points.





PART TWO, VOCABULARY





To prepare for the vocabulary part, please review all the vocabulary pages in your workbook, all the handouts you were given, and page 24 in your workbook).





Vocabulary testing will be in any of the following forms:


a) fill out the blanks with the correct words.


Example 1: I am too fat. I need to exercise. So, I will go to the gym (fitness club, health club)


Example 2: I want to see "Pirates of the Carrebean." Let's go to the movies tonight.


Example 3: Every summer I go to Jeju-do to swim in the ocean/sea.


Example 4: I had a really deep knife cut on my leg. I had to have 30 stiches.





b) name vocabulary: parts of the body, countries, continents, cities, etc).


Example 1: name three parts of your hand finger, knuckle, wrist/nail


Example 2: name three life events be born, graduate from school, have children, etc.





c) multiple choice


Example: When your ______ hurts it could be hard to walk.


Choose: a) nose, b) mouth c) foot





d) Complete each sentence with: country, province, ocean, city, continent


Example 2: Morocco is a(n) country


Atlantic is a(n) ocean.


London is a(n) city.


Jolla buk-do is a(n) province.





GRAMMAR





To study grammar, review all the grammar pages in your workbook and student book, plus page 25 in the workbook.





a) writing complete sentences uisng words in parentheses ( )

b) Connect the sentences with and, but, so


Example: I am sick. I won't go to school.


I am sick, so I won't go to school.





c) Complete sentences with be going to and the words in the parentheses.


Example 1: What ________________________ later (Michael/do)


What is Michael going to do later?


Example 2: I have to study, so __________________ (I/not/go to the movies)


I have to study, so I'm not going to go to the movies.





d) complete the sentences with simple past tense. Use the words in parentheses.

f) Asking questions in the past tense

(who - object) Who(m) did Mary kiss in the kitchen last night?


(when) When did Mary kiss her daughter?


(where) Where did Mary kiss her daughter?


(Yes/no question) Did Mary kiss her daughter in the kitchen last night?
