BEC: WEEK OF APRIL 23-27. MID-TERM ORAL

REGARDING YOUR ORAL EXAM:

YOU MUST PREPARE ALL 30 QUSTIONS.

I have said it at least 10 times in the class. I also showed you on the example with other students what your oral exam will be. I am really, really surprised that you still don't understand. Maybe you should pay a lot more attention in class than you do.

Which questions you will have to answer is pure luck: you will draw a strip of paper with a question on it and you will ask your partner. It can be any of the 30 questions.

EXAMPLE (PLEASE, I BEG YOU read carefully!!!)

STUDENT 1: (draws one strip of paper from the pile of 30 strips; reads the question and asks his or her partner to answer.)
STUDENT 2: answers the questions with 2-3 sentences.
STUDENT 1: asks a 'follow-up' question. This question is not on the list. You must ask it from your own head, depending on what student 1 answered to your previous question.
STUDENT 2: answers the follow up question in one sentence.

THEN: reverse the roles, meaning, Student 2 now draws the questions, student 1 answers; students 2 asks the follow-up question; student 1 answers.
You and your partner will be doing this for about 5-7 minutes.

READ THE EXAMPLE:

Student 1: Which is your favourite movie? (a question from one of the 30 questions)
Student 2: I really like "Love actually." It is a romantic comedy. Actors are very good.
Student 1: Who is your favourite actor (this is a follow-up question, from your own head, connected to the topic of movies, anything about movies.)
Student 2: I really like Johnny Depp.

THEN YOU SWITCH THE ROLES. Student A draws a question and asks, and so on.

I wish that you who called your senior had been honest enough and told me in the class that you didn't understand.
